Restaurants in Baratang
There aren’t any fancy restaurants in Baratang, but you won’t stay hungry here either. A couple of food stalls and small eateries are dotted around the Nilambur jetty and mainly serve South Indian and Bengali dishes. You can find refreshments, snacks, and chai almost on every corner. Dishes are served with a smile and are very pocket-friendly. For deserts, it’s best to buy cookies or chocolate bars in the small shops.
Plenty of refreshments are available to help beat the heat – coconut water is a must-try all over the Andamans! Apart from this, street vendors can also be spotted selling spiced cucumbers, buttermilk, and lassis – all at very affordable prices.
1. Mahima Restaurant
Mahima restaurant is one of those places where food never lays around for too long. Packed with locals, it is definitely a good pick if you want to fill your tummy at an affordable price. They serve fresh Indian dishes prepared right in front of the guests. Their menu is mostly fixed. They serve poori and paratha, for breakfast, rice for lunch, and a selection of bread for dinner. All are served with typical curries, veg sauces, and some salad. The prices are cheap and the food is above average for a typical Indian fast eatery.

It is located by the main road in Nilambur on the left-hand side of the drive from the jetty.
2. Preethi Restaurant
This is a small, unpretentious fast food eatery that serves the usual Indian fare at very budget-friendly prices. They have tasty thalis with vegetarian or seafood dishes on the side. Friendly, but non-English speaking staff, will be happy to refill your plate if asked. They can also prepare biryani, usually with chicken or vegetables
How to get there
If you follow the main road from the Nilambur jetty, you will find Preethi restaurant on the right-hand side.
