About the Activity
The PADI Open Water Diver Certification is an entry level scuba diving course that enables you to dive up to 18 meters along with a buddy without assistance. Under the guidance of a proficient PADI Instructor, you’ll receive thorough training in a comfortable and encouraging setting.
Upon completing the course, you’ll acquire the necessary skills and understanding to embark on dives both domestically and internationally, while also becoming an advocate for the preservation of the underwater ecosystem.
Havelock is the oldest diving spot in Andaman and hence has well discovered sites for all sorts of divers. Diving at Havelock, let alone a course, can never go wrong!

Confined Swimming Pool Session
Arrive at your dive center, familiarize yourself with the staff and fill a couple of forms.
Your dive center will help you with your equipment fittings. You will be fitted with a mask, fins, booties, dive suit and a BCD of your size.
A briefing will take place where you’ll be familiarized with the plan of action for the next 3 days.
On day 1, understand all the basics of scuba diving and indulge in a few skills.

Dive 1 and Dive 2
You along with the scuba gear will be loaded on the boat and the boat will take you near the dive spot.
After you’ve learnt the basics on the first day, perform those skills under water. Learn newer skills.
You’ll do two dives on the second day.

Dive 3 and Dive 4
You’ll practice more skills and then go on a couple more dives.
After completing the dive, get on the boat and return to the dive center. Get changed and receive your Open Water Diver Certification!
Basic Information
- Minimum age to do the open water diver course is 10 years.
- One should be able to swim for 200m, or snorkel for 300 m and float for 10 minutes to be eligible to do this course.
- Complete your theory at your convenience at home before starting your practical sessions for a better understanding.
- Mention all the medical conditions truthfully so that the instructor can help you find a solution before dives in order to avoid any issues underwater.
- Bring an extra pair of innerwear as your wetsuit will get completely drenched.
- Have a light meal before diving to avoid feeling nauseous.

Cancellations and Rescheduling
- Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the dive.
- Free rescheduling can be done until 12 hours before the dive, but it completely depends on the slot availability.

Who cannot do Scuba Diving?
People with disabilities, pregnant women, people with back issues and respiratory illnesses are strictly not allowed to Scuba Dive.

Is scuba diving safe?
Scuba Diving is a safe water activity that is done by thousands of people across the world, daily. It is recommended that you have a decent level of fitness like being able to walk for 45 mins without getting tired. All Instructors and dive masters are equipped with internationally recognized certifications and are trained in dive supervision, diver rescue and Emergency First Response (EFR).

Do I need to know how to swim?
You can do scuba diving even if you do not know how to swim. You will always be accompanied by an experienced instructor or dive master. They’re there to help you stay comfortable underwater and will assist you at all times.

What to wear?
Wear your swim-wear or you can even wear a quick-dry shirt and shorts. A wetsuit will be provided at the dive shop that will be worn over this. Wear flip-flops when you go to the dive shop. It is advisable not to wear sports shoes, heels or boots.
