It was a perfect location for family fun, the erstwhile Ross Island has all the history of a mini Paris, albeit at the cost of all Indian labour and is an example of the British opulence over poverty stricken India. Perfect for taking pics and the picturesque light house was delightful. We took the buggy as we were a large family with kids. There are deer and peacocks too.

Just returned from a wonderful trip and used Go2Andaman to book all my ferry tickets and transportation. Darshan was so helpful while planning and during my trip and kind enough to answer all my question with very helpful suggestions. Go2Andaman are so professional and all went smoothly. It was nice to have prebooked online as the ferries were completely booked up and very busy during high season. Thank you for everything!

We started to Baratang around 3:30 in the morning as it takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach. You will be asked for id proofs at a check post, so keep it handy. The vehicles move one after the other slowly so that we do not disturb the Jarawa forest/ecosystem. On the way to Baratang Island, you will stop some 2 or 3 times for refreshments. Small eateries and clean toilets are available. However, we recommend packing food from the hotel you stay in.
As you travel through the forest, you will reach a ferry point where you have to take the ferry (This ferry takes both passengers and vehicles. This ride to the speedboat jetty is also awesome. You can either sit inside the ferry or go to the upper deck and enjoy the island views) to reach a speed boat point (Jetty). From there you take the speed boat which travels through the mangrove forest to reach the limestone caves. The speed boat journey through the mangrove forest is mesmerizing and on the way, you get to see the huts of Jarawa tribes, and if you are lucky you can spot them too from your speed boat.
Once you reach the starting point of the limestone caves, you get down from the speed boat and start to walk for about 1.5 to 2 km to reach the limestone caves. One of the guides who accompany you in the speed boat will also walk along with you to the limestone caves. Wear comfortable shoes as the walkway is not proper all the time.
Once you reach the limestone caves, you will see all kinds of stunning limestone formations. The area inside the caves is pitching dark so make sure to turn on the flashlight. Take some good pictures and walk back to the speed boat which will bring you back to the ferry point.
Visit limestone caves as early as possible so that you will be the first person to go and take some undisturbed pictures. The area of caves that are open to the public is very small hence you feel overcrowded if few more people arrive. When we went, we were the first people to reach the limestone caves.
You can also visit Mud Volcano from there. Board a cab at Baratang Jetty and it takes around 10 to 15 mins to reach the spot from there again you need to walk a little while to view the mud volcano.
You can also visit Parrot Island from here. Just inquire with your cab driver. Once all done, take the ferry back to the point from where you arrived and ride back to your hotel in your cab.
