APWD Guest House

Town Road, Subhasgram, Diglipur, North Andaman

About APWD Guest House

If there is any reason you wish to stay in the center of Diglipur the Tourism Department runs a decent guesthouse that is by far the best place to stay in this town. Situated on top of the hill, overlooking the main city of North Andaman, A.P.W.D Guest House offers AC and non-AC rooms all with an en-suite bathroom. The rooms are a bit out of date and the whole place could use a bit of renovation but it will do the trick if you’re staying just for a night or two. The prices are reasonable and the staff is quite friendly. However, the place is mainly reserved for the government, and rooms are offered to tourists only if they are free. Booking is possible in the Port Blair office or at the Assistant Commission in the big administration office at the dolphins’ roundabout, but it must be done at least a couple of days in advance. Phone reservations are also possible but one has to be persistent. The in-house restaurant caters only to its guests. It is conveniently located near the shops and the main bus station is less than a kilometer away. All in all, great for all in transit.
