APWD Guest House

Mayabunder, Middle Andaman

About A.P.W.D Guest House

The Tourism Department runs a lovely resort near the seaside with reasonably decent and comfortable rooms with sea view balconies. The place is reserved for government officials but they do offer rooms for tourists if free. Booking is possible in the Port Blair office and it must be done in advance. Phone reservations are sometimes also possible but one has to be persistent. If you do get lucky to be given a free room, A.P.W.D Guest House is definitely a fine option to stay in Mayabunder. The place has a lovely viewpoint by the sea from where one can see the remains of the German jetty. It is conveniently located near the jetty and only 1km from the center of Mayabunder. The prices are cheap for what it offers and there is also a decent restaurant catering only to the guest staying at the resort. The place is peaceful and well maintained, definitely a good value for money.
